I reserved a hybrid bike to take longer rides from Amsterdam, and Bike City took such good care of me. Because of a late flight, I had to rush there with my luggage and arrived at the store just a few minutes before closing time. Eva, the owner, was very gracious — offered me a glass of water — and patiently took care of everything for me. She offered a choice of three different hybrids to see which one was most comfortable, and set me up with panniers and a repair kit. I had a tough time finding what we in the U.S. call touring or hybrid bikes, and found Bike City just a day or two before I landed. But they had just what I needed to feel comfortable riding in an unfamiliar city and country. Next time, it will be my first stop. Thanks, Eva!

It is always a pleasure to rent from Bike City when I'm in Amsterdam. Great selection and great service. They have e-bikes too.

Really great experience. Rented a hybrid off them for a weeks tour of the Netherlands. E-mail contact back and forth was polite and very accommodating to my requests. I brought my own brooks saddle and the staff were kind enough to mount it for me on arrival. Bike was a small bit heavier than I was used to but was warned these bikes are built like absolute tanks. Did over 600km on it over 6 days and it held up like a champ. Had a great experience using bike city for bike rental, would recommend to anyone in the future. If you guys read this thank you so much, I had such an amazing time exploring your country thanks to you.

I showed up no reservation, after not finding a certain bike I wanted at other places. The person I talked to (short female with braided hair) was SO NICE, like super helpful beyond belief. She was patient and showed me my options and got my situated last minute. I would recommend make a reservation but regardless of what you are doing I would recommend these people 100%!

I'd like to recommend BikeCity to any Amsterdam visitor looking for day, short-time, or weekly rentals. I've used them over the years (going back to previous owners) for all three rental options. I want to discuss the weekly ones here for visitors who've considered pedaling and overnighting outside of Amsterdam. It's possible, and joining a tour is not necessary. I've used BC twice for DIY trips: The first for a 2023 springtime tulip region tour that took me from A'dam to Haarlem to Leiden and The Hague, then back to A'dam via NL's dune coastline via Zandvoort. The second, in September 2024, was a train/bike adventure that started when I picked up my BC rental in A'dam, put it on a train north to Groningen, then spent the next week there and in Friesland, making my way back to A'dam via Giethoorn. I planned my own itinerary and booked hotels in advance. I put my rental bike on the train (note there's an extra cost) during times I didn't feel like pedaling. The reason I recommend BikeCity is because both times owner Eva rented me a very sturdy hybrid bike with four large waterproof paniers, plus a pump and repair tools. The only quirk was the toe-clip pedals (I don't wear biking shoes), but I managed fine using each pedal's opposite side. The bikes took a beating from everyday, nearly all-day use, and held up greatly.. It was always easy to remove and secure the paniers. I'm not a total bike geek. I simply enjoy using them to go at my own pace and enjoy the world around me. (One simply can't do the same inside a vehicle.) I realize BC rents electric and other high-performing fiets, but their hybrid model worked well for me. Beyond that, BikeCity is conveniently located in a great neighborhood in proximity to Centraal Station, and Eva and her employees are sweet and positive people. They helped make both of my DIY Netherlands bike adventures enjoyable and I daresay epic. If you're inspired by my review, I urge you to try it yourself, and hire BikeCity to help you.
