  Unfortunately, this club didn’t live up to the hype. I was really looking forward to checking it out, but left pretty disappointed. The sound system was average, and while the music was decent, it wasn’t the hard techno I expected from a place that calls itself a “techno bunker.” The crowd was mostly guys, and a few were openly trying to sell stuff on the dance floor, which killed the vibe for me. Drinks were on the cheaper side (€26 for 2 beers and 2 G&Ts), but the quality was just bad — the worst tequila I’ve ever had, definitely some budget brand. The club itself has potential — dark interior, cool lighting on the stage — but nothing that really stood out. I was hoping to rave until the early morning, but ended up leaving by 2am feeling bored and let down.

  Dope intimate venue, quick entry despite a queue. Pretty good sound system (ear plugs available for purchase if you forgot yours) nicely sized dance floor. Drinks were €6-13/each, typical nightclub prices - no surprises there. Would visit again!!

  Got invitation from one of the friend, I was visited this club with my group of friends, 12 people, very nice place. A lot bad comments about security and staff, seems like is fake reviews , a lot of them so friendly and very cool people, nice talk with them. Also had a talk with female security she was nice, no rude at all. I think is the best techno club in Amsterdam! Highly recommended! For sure will back again!

  The experience at Shelter was overall very positive. Entry was smooth and quick, with no waiting time, and the staff at the entrance were friendly and efficient. Inside, the bar staff were a bit hit-or-miss—not always the friendliest, but nothing that would ruin the night since you’re not there to make friends with them. Lockers were available, which was convenient, but it’s worth noting that you’ll need a €2 coin (or a token you can buy at the bar). However, the downside is that lockers can only be used once—if you reopen it, you’ll need to buy another token. The music and sound quality were excellent, definitely a highlight of the night. The bathrooms were clean at the start of the evening, though later on, there was no toilet paper left—you’ll need to grab some from the front before heading in. Security was present and attentive throughout the night, making the space feel safe. They addressed people who were smoking or vaping and even checked in on us when we were sitting on a bench at the edge of the dance floor. We were three women, and their presence gave us a sense of security. It felt like they would step in if needed (although we didn’t encounter any issues). One downside, however, was that it got very cold inside towards the end of the night, which made it a bit uncomfortable. Overall, Shelter delivered great music and a safe atmosphere, with just a few minor inconveniences. A solid place to enjoy a night out!

  Great music on 22.03.2024, proper talent on the decks. The sound system is great, you can stand pretty much anywhere and still enjoy the music. Great atmosphere overall, tons of people. Crowd generally was nice and no pushing or shoving, if you're in the way, someone will tap you on the back or shoulder to ask to let them through. Drinks have a reasonable price, bartenders are nice and answer even the stupidest questions. Lighting guy was on a total mission to blow everyone away after every drop. The LED screens on the ceiling and various lasers and lights were creating a proper club environment. The Restroom stage is nothing short of spectacular, boiler room style even. I see some people complaining about the music not being techno or dark enough. I think those people should do some research on the DJs they are going to hear before going to the event in the first place if the style of music is not to one's preference, choose another event where there will be techno DJs. It's pretty simple. Also no problems with the door staff or security, super nice people and had no problems with them. Perhaps because I arrived pretty early in the night and they were not pissed off from processing all the people coming through, it was packed. This night was absolutely kickass, with various subgenres of house music, enjoyed every second, props to the club owners and promoters for putting together a sick night, I will be coming back when in Amsterdam.
