This card was a total failure. I bought two 24h cards for my wife and I. We activated them entering at the first museum (Rijks) saturday 15th of february at around 15h and at first everything went well. After the museum we figured we could do the boat tour and everything went south: my wife's card didn't work and mine was already scanned. We tried several times with the staff but it just would not work. They told us to directly contact the card issuer so that they fix it. There is no phone number on the website so we decided to go directly to the I AMsterdam store at the train station. It wasn't part of the visit plan but we figured that as soon as we get the card fixed we could continue with our visits… We arrived just before closing time and the staff was not cooperative at all. They told us that it was our fault for activating both card on the same phone (Why does the app let us do this if it's not a good thing to do? Why did it work at the first museum but not afterward??) and that it was just a one time failure and that it wouldn't happen again. We trusted them and went to ADAM Lookout. Guess what: my wife's card did not work. We called it a night and headed back to the hotel. The day after we headed to the boat tour next to the train station so that we could go to the store again if it didn't work. And that's what happened: my wife's card still didn't work and mine neither because it was scanned the day before for a tour boat (that we couldn't board) and it only allows 1 boat tour. We went back to the I AMsterdam store and they didn't do anything to fix the situation. They said that if the card was working at the first museum there were no problem and that it was the fault of boat tours and ADAM lookout. I asked them if they could disable our cards and give us new ones but they wouldn't. I started to get angry and asked for a refund because we couldn't do half of what the card was advertised for and they just stuck with their position and wouldn't give us any solution to the card problem and just kept saying: "that's not our fault". We had no other choice to leave promising we would leave a GREAT review. Recap: we lost hours going back and forth to their store that provided no solution to the problem, we walked to the tour boats and ADAM lookout but could not enter/board any of it. What a waste of 130€…

DO NOT THINK TWICE ABOUT THE I AMSTERDAM CARD. EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY. MUSEUMS ARENT FREE ENTRY LIKE THE UK. I'm so glad we found this experience card before we travelled to amsterdam. It has allowed us to experience a number of attractions throughout the city, all within the cost of the price of the card. Having transport included within the price of the card has been a blessing as we used the metro, trams, buses and ferry multiple times to get around the city. We made a few mistakes going through the wrong gates for metro, so being able to get in and out through the gates and on to the correct platform was helpful with this card. The clock didn't start ticking on the card until you went to your first attraction which was super helpful as if you arrive in the middle of the day on your first day, you haven't then wasted half of the day, the card rolls on to half a day at the end of your trip. You get the full 24, 48, 72 hours etc which is great to maximise your experience.

Very poor customer service. We purchased two Iamsterdam cards and they don’t work on public transport. The staff in the Iamsterdam store offered very little help and actually caused more problems than solutions. We are left with two cards that don’t work on public transport and customer service scoring 0/10 With this experience I urge other people who consider buying a card not to, as very problematic on public transport making you have to spend additional money on transport No refund or partial refund was offered by the staff in store

I’ve never felt the need to leave a negative review, but I feel compelled to share my recent experience. On May 6, my boyfriend bought two Iamsterdam City Cards for his parents, visiting from May 23 to 25. We wanted to keep things simple, so we opted for physical cards instead of the app. Before picking them up at the Iamsterdam store in Central Station, we booked some museum slots. But to reserve the rest, we needed the codes on the physical cards, so we collected them early. At the store, we asked if we could reserve the Lookout online. They said no, but told us we could go there directly. At the Lookout, we explained we only wanted to book, not activate the cards, as the visit was weeks away. The employee gave us physical tickets and confirmed the reservation. Later, we received an email (which went to spam) saying the cards were activated. We returned to the store, panicked. The employee insisted they weren’t activated and said the email was automatically generated and shouldn't be a problem. But when my boyfriend’s parents arrived on May 23 and tried to use the card for a canal cruise, it didn’t work. Back at the store, another employee confirmed the cards *had* been activated on the day we visited the Lookout. She said she could see that the bookings were for that week and recommended we email customer service. We sent an email with all our bookings to show there was no intention to use the cards before May 23. The response? “We understand this is disappointing, but unfortunately we cannot make an exception to our terms. We hope your in-laws still enjoyed their time in Amsterdam.” This wasn’t about asking for an exception, it was about correcting a situation where we paid for something that was never actually used. Despite our efforts to get correct information in time and speaking with multiple employees, we were left with two unused cards, worth 216 euros. I returned to the Lookout, where the manager clearly stated that the Iamsterdam team could see the cards weren’t used. I took this info to the Central Station store, hoping they’d be reasonable. It was surreal to get a "too bad, sucks for you" attitude at a customer service desk. Three things upset me during that final visit: First, the same man who previously told us the cards weren’t activated now denied ever saying that. He claimed I had only asked if we made the booking, which doesn’t make sense, since we had physical booking tickets and even showed him the activation email. When I got visibly frustrated and asked to talk through the situation again, he laughed. It was dismissive and disrespectful. Second, when I asked to speak to someone else, the woman I was referred to treated me like a nuisance. Before hearing me out, she blamed us for misunderstanding and said there was nothing to be done. I’ve worked in cafes, restaurants, boats, etc and nowhere before have I ever seen such cold and unhelpful service. At one point, she told me to leave because she was “done” with the conversation and that she had other customers. Also, when I asked if she could write her name down so I could follow up on the situation, she didn't write it down and I kid you not she said "you can't remember one name?". Lastly, when I asked if anyone could actually help, the man said only the manager might be able to, but they wouldn’t be in until the next day. I explained that my school and work schedule made it impossible. He just shrugged. I can only imagine how frustrating this would be for tourists trying to get help during a short visit which is what I read in Antoine Reneleau's and Jonathan Owen's review below. To the Iamsterdam team: your staff was clearly not trained to handle situations like this. I hope this experience is not dismissed, and that it prompts some reflection on how these issues are handled. To other tourists considering the Iamsterdam City Card: I did read all the reviews before suggesting this card to my boyfriend and it seems to work well for many people. But when it doesn’t, you’re left completely on your own.
