This is a very nice hotel in a perfect location to visit downtown Spa. The rooms were quite nice and spacious by European standards. The service was outstanding with the staff being both friendly and attentive. It's also connected via funicular to the Thermes spa, which made it very convenient to visit there as well. The only criticisms I have are that it was quite warm while we were there, and the AC in the room was "meh". Now the other shortcoming isn't entirely their fault because of the location, but the availability of parking at the hotel is extremely limited. I could write an entire paragraph on parking, but we'll just leave it at that. Overall, a great experience and we would definitely go back!

Be warned if you are looking to book this hotel right now or for at least the next several months at minimum. This hotel is under heavy construction. The entire ground floor is currently a construction site with absolutely zero amenities and is just an empty concrete shell. At no point during or since booking several months ago, were we advised of this. On arrival we walked through what is basically a construction site to a makeshift reception desk. We had 4 rooms in total in our group and of the 4, 3 of them had issues. One was the wrong room type and wasn’t 100% ready, another again was a wrong room type and the 3rd was completely dirty and looked as though someone had just checked out of it. Our room situations were addressed fairly quickly, however with the hotel under such heavy construction at present, I barely understand how they can even be open right now. Especially with no advance warning to people making reservations. We stayed here this time last year for the same event and have stayed on previous years and this was always lovely Radisson Blu hotel. It has changed hands within this time and while I understand the new owners may want to change the hotels appearance, this is not just a makeover. This is a full reconstruction

Horrible service. We went here for a relax vacation, but it was everything but relaxing in the Hotel. We had a TV that didn’t work and for 2 days straight we were asking the staff to please help. They try to help by using ChatGPT with obviously didn’t work and after that they try to blame our phone by saying that the phone are the ones that are not allowing the tv to connect. Meanwhile the worker tried with his own phone and it also didn’t work. Went to the manager and he basically said that he doesn’t have a way to fix the TV and that they were aware of this problem because the TV was just installed but they didn’t finish the job. We asked him how he could compensate us for placing us in a room that wasn’t fully finished even tho we paid for the room and the service and he basically told us that he was unable to do anything, because a TV is not a major issue. Super unprofessional! Spa is an amazing place but don’t book this hotel at all.

I stayed at Van der Valk Hotel Spa from April 25–28, 2025, and unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the brand’s usual standard. The ChromeCast functionality in my Superior Room was broken throughout the entire stay, and the TV mostly offered French channels, which I don’t speak. Despite multiple attempts by staff to fix it, the issue was never resolved. I raised the issue several times and eventually spoke with the hotel manager, who offered just two complimentary drinks as compensation. I didn’t feel this matched the inconvenience, especially since evening relaxation and entertainment were key parts of our wellness-focused getaway. I was told the matter would be escalated to the hotel director, but I never received a follow-up nor any response to my formal complaint sent afterward. I chose Van der Valk for its reputation, but the lack of service recovery and communication left me very disappointed. I won’t be returning to this location.
