We visited Grand Café D'n Ingel (Vrijthof 13, Maastricht, Netherlands) for dinner tonight, choosing it based on the Find Me Gluten Free app and Google reviews. The restaurant had a cozy and inviting atmosphere, and while it wasn’t too busy, our evening took an unexpected turn when we spotted a mouse darting across the floor. Trying to brush it off, we continued with our drinks and dinner, which were excellent. Unfortunately, we saw another mouse later on. The waiter hurried over and stomped near it, explaining they were trying to “scare it back into the walls” and that many businesses in the area struggle with mice due to the age of the buildings and the cold weather—it was snowing tonight. Now, about the food—because that part was fantastic: - My partner had the **beef filet**, perfectly cooked and flavorful. - I enjoyed the **pork medallions wrapped in bacon** with gluten-free fries, and the staff took great care to ensure my meal was safe for my dietary needs. - Our friend opted for the **halibut**, which was also a hit. For dessert, we shared the **gluten-free vegan cheesecake**, which was absolutely divine, while our friend had the **apple pie**, a beautiful and tempting treat. While the meal was delicious, the appearance of “Remy and his sous-chefs” (a nod to Ratatouille) was hard to overlook. Sadly, after reading other reviews, I noticed another guest mentioned the same issue *seven months ago*—and they even included a video of a mouse scurrying about. It’s clear this problem hasn’t been addressed, which is disappointing, as it overshadows what could have been an exceptional dining experience.

Extreme poor service, ordered food and after > 1hr no update/ excuse. We eventually cancelled the order but even then there was no excuse/ explanation why our food wasn't served but later arrived guest received their food without fail. Choose another place for lunch/ dinner when visiting beautiful Maastricht. Avoid this place.

We were walking through Maastrich and decided to enter the place to have dinner. As it was the carnival season, city was full and all restaurantes were already complete. We did not have any reservations but were able to get a table for 2. We went for the “chef’s special”, since we did not know the traditional dutch food. Overall, very nice starters and beers. The main dish was good, but the meat was not as delicious than the carpaccio. Great atmosphere and great service!

The food is great, and the atmosphere is very cozy (we went during the Christmas season so we stayed inside). My husband is coeliac and they were really attentive. They have separate working space for gluten intolerants, which is a big plus for us when eating out. Definitely recommend this place! :)

When I visit a city I like a good terras where that give a relax vibe and serves like they want you there. This was the only terras I found that had experience personal. I eaten, drank and enjoy this place. Recommend for those that like a good old place for a good cold beer or a borrel plankje. The food is great to, just a bit to much for me but I don’t eat so much as the people in Maastricht.
