  The very first time I visited Flora in The Hague, I instantly fell in love with it. Taking the elevator up, you would never expect to step into such a stunning, spacious circular hall with floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows. A wide balcony elegantly wraps around the balustrade, and standing there with a glass of aperitif before dinner, you can enjoy a breathtaking sunset view over the city. The menu is not extensive, but each dish is beautifully presented and thoughtfully composed. There is a perfect balance of meat, fish, vegetables, and delightful delicacies. What truly impressed me was the outstanding wine list — carefully curated, with an excellent selection across regions and grape varieties. We were looked after by the lovely Emma, whose warm and professional service deserves special praise. The entire team was incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful, yet never intrusive. They create a very welcoming, easygoing atmosphere. One thing I particularly loved was the open kitchen. You can see the chefs working together with such harmony and kindness — it gives the whole experience a sense of openness and authenticity. Despite the large hall being fully booked that evening, the restaurant felt comfortable and relaxed. I wholeheartedly recommend Flora to anyone visiting The Hague. I truly believe everyone will find their own special charm in this place.

  Okay, well, there is a bit to unpack here. Lovely view, lovely building, lovely food and wine -- I genuinely don't think anyone can dispute that. The portions are a bit small for the price but given the 'hype' and how unique the place is in Den Haag, I think it's justified. When it comes to staff, I don't remember feeling as 'unwelcome' anywhere else in this city. You feel quite disoriented when you arrive at the entrance. No one shows up to check in with you or guide you. The staff has an attitude and they are far from thinking of guests as, well..., guests. You are at best a customer here. They have an attitude when they tell you that the terrace is closing and they have an attitude when they 'warn' you that laptops are not allowed. It goes along the lines 'we don't like laptops here', literally. It is really difficult to find someone to order with especially if you are sitting at the terrace. I also had a strange experience towards the evening. I had to wait for 20 minutes for a beer and a glass of wine at one point. Finally I got inside, found the waiter I had ordered with, and he told me to wait at the bar so he can hand me the drinks since it was so busy. I told him we ordered 20 minutes ago and we were sat so close to the bar on the terrace. He just repeated 'Well yeah, can you wait at the bar though?'. So I guess self-service is their thing when it gets 'busy'. The staff is inexperienced and chaotic, perhaps partly because the place is still relatively new. My advice is come at a relatively chill hour, grab your drink at the bar and chill at the terrace:)! (And also, staff attitude at 'the new hip place in town' is absolutely nothing unique to Flora in Den Haag... but I guess I will have to start a blog for that write-up some other time.)

  Really good food! Not a vegetarian, but I felt that all the vegetarian options we shared were particularly well executed! Amazing ambiance and superb view of Den Haag. A little miss with the service, when they forgot to bring my partner a second drink... (it happens!) But overall still deserving a 5* and making us want to go back soon!

  We visited this restaurant for the second time, and once again, the food was absolutely delicious. The location is stunning and adds to the overall experience. However, we were disappointed with the service this time. It was my wife's birthday, and unfortunately, there was no special attention or acknowledgment at all. Some of the staff were attentive, but others seemed to overlook our table — we had to wait quite a while to order drinks and our next course, despite waiters walking around nearby. Also, I have to agree with a previous review I read: €9.50 for a glass of wine is quite steep, especially considering the quality. It really didn’t feel worth the price. We truly enjoy the food and the setting, but for a place in this price range, the service and pricing should better reflect the overall experience.
