The staff really great, very attentive. I stayed for 2 nights, to attend a friends wedding. The staff very relaxed as we arrived late in the evening but not a problem. Room was a decent size with a shower room. Breakfast was a very relaxed, plenty of choice and great coffee. The wedding reception was brilliant, there was so much choice of food, they even catered for gluten free. The evening reception was amazing and made very special by the wonderful waiting staff, they where very helpful, friendly and efficient. I was able to borrow and iron and also a hairdryer from the front desk. The hotel is in a great location for the town, and some lovely walks, bike rides along the river, easy car parking, local bus service. Enjoyed our stay very much, would stay again.

For those interested, the rooms are not 1 star rated, nor the personnel. The manager is rated 1 star due to poor customer treatment and lack of responsibility taken for problems caused by ignorance. Me and my friends (4 others) rented 3 rooms for 1 night on a Saturday. 1 room was a studio built outside the main hotel building. We received a key for each room. Me and my friends decided to drop our stuff in each room, and then all gather in the studio to have fun, play cards etc. Partly because it was bigger and partly because we didnt want to bother the other attendants in the hotel by being loud late at night. After we were done (3.30 AM) 4 of us staying in the hotel rooms decided to head back and to our surprise, everything was closed and the lights were off. We were not told by reception when we checked in, nor was there any signage or information around about closing time. Hotel management apparantly did not find it necessary to give this information upfront the customers. 1- star. We therefore naturally assumed: ok, the keys must give us access to the front door to get in after closing time. We grabbed 1 one of the keys that werent for the studio, tried it and it didnt work. We tried it on other doors assuming that a side door is available, but no luck. The key didnt work on any doors other than the room itself. We then called the service number mutliple times but no answer and knocking didnt help at all. At this point we realized the 4 of us were locked out. 2 of us decided to drive home 1.5 hours at 3.30 AM, one managed to split the studio with the 5th, and the other slept in his car. At Sunday 9.00 we woke up and went to reception. We explained what happened, the number was correct, the key indeed did not work and we exchange information as management was not present. 1- star. The nice lady at the reception offered to extend our breakfast time but unfortunately we couldnt make it as we still had packing and planning to do. She even offered to pack us a lunch for the road. 5-star for her only. We politely declined, checked out and went on our way. However, before we left we tested the other of the 2 room keys and turns out it worked. We assumed that if one room key didnt work, the other wouldnt either. Our mistake apparantly. Not monday as assumed by staff, but tuesday, we received word from management. 1 - star. They offered to refund us only 1 room because the other key worked and we should have tested it. Which is true. Whats also true: hotels should notify guests of closing time if reception is not 24/7. If guests are allowed entry with keys, then all guests with keys should be able to enter. If there is a service number to call, it should be available. If this does not get addressed, it will happen to someone else. Not 5 prime age men, but an elderly, disabled, or vulnrable person coming back from a late family night. 1- star. Management tried to be cheap because we had 2 keys and one worked, so therefore we were dumb, and its our own fault. Only 1 key didnt work so only 1 room refund is their answer. So remember guys, at Hotel Milling aan de rijn, you have to book 2 rooms or more, because if 1 key doesnt work, the other one will. 1-star. Also, they re-route the reception desk calls to the nice old lady's phone and she has to answer all the late night/morning calls (if and when the system actually works). 1-star.

Hotel Millings Centrum is an somewhat older hotel very close to the river Rhine. The room was rather small but neat and clean. Staff was friendly especially in the restaurant. Breakfast is very nice. We had one diner which was good. Location is excellent; from Millingen aan de Rijn it is easy to get to Nijmegen, Arnhem cross the closeby border into Germany and visit Kleef or Kalkar (Wunderland Kalkar located in a never used nuclear reactor!) Better signs are needed when using stairs, where to go? Also the hotel has lots of brochures of the surroundings but located in the stair house behind a closed door, not that easy to find.

Had all in package. Lovely beds, the type you sleep on like a baby. Helpful people and the best for last; the food. Especially the lunch and dinners were mind blowing :).
