The rooms are the cleanest I have ever seen in any hotel/hostel. The sound insulation is incredible. It was very, very quiet even with lots of pupils on the floor. The vegetable options for breakfast are great (lots of cucumber, tomatoe, bell pepper). The short walk to Amstel station is a plus too. One gets around and to the Central Station easily. Everybody was really friendly. A really good and relaxing stay.

Room was clean and worked well for our family. We didn’t stay in the hostel rooms, we stayed in the hotel room. The only thing lacking was space to open our luggage, but we made it work. Great location and easy to go anywhere from there.

Awful stay – not family-friendly. We traveled with two small children and had a truly disappointing experience. The first room we were given had a hole in the bedsheets and the noise from the ventilation system at night was unbearable. We changed rooms, but the noise persisted. On top of that, we later discovered that our room was never cleaned during our entire stay, despite multiple requests and complaints to the reception. Basic hygiene and comfort were simply ignored. We followed up with multiple emails to management afterward, but received no refund or meaningful resolution. Better to spend more elsewhere for proper service—because we certainly didn’t get it here. They replied to the various emails with reasons that were not true, and I felt mocked. They said that we didn’t agree to change rooms because the children were sleeping, but by the time we were asked to switch to the fourth room, I had completely lost hope and didn’t see it as a solution anymore. As for the cleaning, they never admitted that it hadn’t been done, even though we had requested it. They only implied that the photos I took were early in the morning and therefore not valid — but that was completely false! And I felt mocked a second time. Having lost all hope, I will never return and strongly advise other families against going. You’ll see that their response will be very similar to what I’ve just described.

If you are traveling and don't want to stay at shady cheap hostels or with lot of people or loud sound. Then meininger is best suited for you. This hostel is generally clean and will give you peace without paying hefty money. Yes it's quite expensive than cheaper hostels but you get the service as well. They have kitchen for guests and you can refill water from water filter there. They have some games as well to play. It's near to the station so its very convenient. The staff was nice. The best part is that you can cook food for yourself and they also have all the utilities to cook food also the fridge where you can keep your stuffs there.

I paid €100+ for 2 nights in a 6person coed dorm. One of the nights was a friday of a holiday weekend, so I understand that prices increase when demand is higher, however, I don’t feel like the amenities in the room matched the price. I paid around €50 for a thursday night & around €90 for the friday of Easter weekend. I think for the price, guests should receive real pillows instead of those cheap flat ones, and I believe the bunks should have privacy curtains. The lobby and communal areas were great & the rooms were clean & nice except for my above complaints. The staff was friendly & helpful, and I would recommend staying here, however, I think they have room for improvements given the price.
