Dont be fooled ! This place looks nothing like the nicely done pictures that are posted. Other reviews are years old, but my review is pretty recent . Trust me Im telling the truth and want to give my honest opinion about this place to help others pick the best place for them to stay. This place is more like a hostel than a hotel or AirBNB. It's like a hostel that young people would stay at who are on a tight budget, but this guy is charging 3 star hotel prices. I could hear people in the kitchen and in their room laughing and talking loudly with no regard for other guests in that house. I even heard someone yell out of their room for them to stop making so much noise in the kitchen. The host Juan was never there except to clean up at 10pm. at night after another guest left that morning. I didn't understand why he could not have a service clean the room earlier in the day. After all, guests are charged a service cleaning fee. He was running the vacuum cleaner and making noise. You have to pick up your room key under the front door mat. He leaves your room key under the door mat upon your arrival, totally unsafe even for Amsterdam. If you're a big person, forget about going up or down the small narrow stairs. It seemed very unsafe, especially with luggage and no handrails. I am 135 pounds and about 5'5 and I struggled going up and down. The attic room was super small. I was in a room top floor 1B that looked like an attic converted into a child's bedroom. The room was dusy and just not a fresh feeling. There is no place to hang clothes or put any personal items. It was just an old dusty dresser that I did not want to use. The coffee pot in the room was dusty and looked like it had not been washed out after the last guest. The bathroom was very small, and the shower stopper kept coming out and hurt my foot when I stepped on it. I was in Amsterdam mid-April. It was still chilly at night, and the heat in that room did not work. I had to use the covers from the other small bed in my room to keep warm at night. I messaged the host Juan about it. He texted back to turn the knob on the heater to 5, but it still never came on. The neighborhood is somewhat questionable, with a lot of delivery noisy motorcycles outside of the pizza place across the street. Aldi is across the street too, which is a good thing if you need something. It's a good 10-minute walk to the Zanndam train station, but the trains run on a different schedule on Sunday. You literally have to go around "Robin hoods barn" to get back to Zanndam on Sunday, no direct service from Centrral...at least when I was there. Make sure you check at the customer service ticket center at the station for updates on closures and delays. The host should inform guests of this. It was very inconvenient after a long day of sightseeing. It cost me 8.00 USD for each day to use the train. I checked at the information center at the Zanndam station, and there are no weekly passes for sale. I had to pay daily. After staying in that dump, I wish I had paid the extra money and stayed closer to Centrral. The worst part of my trip was staying at this place. Visiting Amsterdam was amazing, and I will be back. I thought that the area called Dijk was very nice. The Albert Cuyp Farmers market is in that area, too. I would not recommend staying at this place. DO NOT STAY HERE ! My lesson learned.

Its a good place for people on a budget. A small cosy room with everything you might need. A functional kitchen. It's in a pretty little town of Zandaam, about 8 minutes walk from the Zandaam station. There is an Aldi and a Lovely Doner place right opposite (Try his Pasta) The only Con is that it's not in Amsterdam and one has to take the most expensive mode of public transport, the train to get there. Day travel passes have different rates for travel outside the city of Amsterdam. Having said that, it's hardly a couple of stations from Amsterdam Central train station.
