  It was our first trip to the Netherlands and choosing Zaandam near the capital Amsterdam was a great idea. Low prices and a quiet atmosphere in the city center and close to the train station. The rooms are small but clean and bright. Also great staff who recommended breakfast near the hotel for only 2.5 euros and what to visit. Thank you!

  I highly discourage everyone from staying at this place! The level of rudeness that we experienced is unbelievable. I have to start with the statement that you shouldn't trust anything that was said to you by so called staff. For your safety, ask for having EVERYTHING on paper, even if it's the lowest priority request or agreement you have there. Starting with the fact, that we agreed on having a room for three people, the staff told us that no, there is only a room for two people and we need to book another room for stay. Even if we already paid earlier. Having no choice we accepted the additional payment. The staff member LIED to us, cause he confirmed it's paid for 4 nights. And now the real nightmare begins. After the first night we were called (while having a good time in Amsterdam) that we have to leave the room which we paid for. When we came back, the staff already packed my parents belongings into a garbage bags without giving them any chance to come back to the room and let them pack their belongings individually with the respect for privacy!! I can't believe the unprofessional, rude, and humiliating treatment here. On top the staff member blocked the keycard to the room of my parents and opened the door for them by himself, waiting in front of the room and checking if all they took all of their belongings with them. The same guy later couldn't reply to the question on how much does this place want for a payment for three more nights. He was playing with the prices like, tonight you pay 100€ but tomorrow I don't know, we will see. How it's even possible if this place has thier rooms available on booking? It's very suspicious. This guy was the most awful, rude, unprofessional and brazen person I ever met in the "hotel". Staff also have problems with speaking english. This place doesn't even deserve one star, the worst place I've ever been. This is a shame how you treat people and what type of opinion you leave for your city and country. Let me skip the part of describing the room as even if it would be high standard it doesn't matter. Continue this behavior so that the only guests you would handle to host would be cockroaches and bed bugs

  I had a wonderful experience at the Golden Zaan Hotel! The hotel is in a great location, just a short train ride from Amsterdam, making it perfect for exploring the city while staying in a quieter area. The staff was warm and welcoming, and check-in was quick and easy. The room was cozy, the bed was very comfortable, and I had everything I needed for a pleasant stay.
